The exact requirements to become a pool lifeguard vary by location. Generally, pool lifeguards must have current certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding, be at least 16 years of age, and be able to swim confidently. The American Red Cross offers a comprehensive Lifeguarding Certification Course that includes training in First Aid, CPR/AED, and Life guarding.
